"Better put him on the leash", I called as Weave and Ripple headed for one of the dog's sure spots. There is still some disagreement as to whether my advice was deliberately ignored or simply not heard , at any rate, tempers were a bit on edge when we were finally on our way at noon. I don't (despite her assertion to the contrary) blame Weave for our late start. I don't blame Ripple, he was just being a dog. I blame the cat.
Thanks to the neighbors cat, we spent only three hours at Rock Town that afternoon, but what a great three hours! There were several spots where we were able to simply walk onto a huge boulder, stroll to the far edge and stand peering down a drop of two or three stories. We walked through a crevice in which the rock walls rose a hundred feet above us on both sides, the temperature dropped continually as we went deeper into the rock until, reaching the center, the temperature rose steadily until we emerged on the other side. Wildlife sightings for the day include five turkey, three deer and one red tail hawk.
