| Review: TICA Cabins
Editors Update, March 2002:
I've been recommending TICA to my friends and co-workers for nearly three years. Their friendly and professional service coupled with the sheer number of cabins they offer allows me to do so with confidence. The following review was written after my first experience with TICA, in July 1999. Time inevitably brings change, so I feel an update is in order.
First of all, the "Riverview" cabin, mentioned in my original review, is no longer offered for rent by TICA.
Secondly, TICA has greatly improved their website since this review was written. During a recent visit, I found over 50 cabins, each with multiple photographs. These "Photo Tours" make it very easy to pick out the "perfect" cabin.
I should also mention that in April 2000 my wife and I stayed for a week in their "Laurel View" cabin.
This cabin was a delight: tastefully decorated, comfortable, and offered fantastic mountain views from the screened porch and from the hot tub on the deck.
July 1999:
Tica Cabins of Blue Ridge Georgia manages over fifty privately owned cabins
along the Toccoa River and in the mountains near Blue Ridge. Their extensive
listings enable one to find a cabin with exactly the features that are desired.
Many of the cabins accept small pets and a few accept larger pets.
Our experience with TICA was extremely positive. Tonya, who took our
reservation, was very friendly and helpful. After listening to my extensive
list of desires, she offered several choices. I choose the Riverview, which had
all the features that I was looking for. Although I would not recommend this
cabin due to it's horrendous (in my opinion) decor, I do not hold TICA
responsible for this. I realize that this is purely a matter of personal taste.
All their cabins are privately owned and decorated by the owners. I did not ask
any questions regarding the decor. Had I done so, I am sure, from looking
through a notebook located in their office with pictures of the cabins , that
we could have found something more to our taste. It would be nice if they would
add pictures of the cabins to the extensive information available on their
website.
