Writers' Retreat: Page 1 2 3 4
By Diana Renfro
We wanted to honor our ten years together as much as we wanted renewal. So
we left our inner critics in the city and retreated to the Center for
Spirituality, Healing, and Wellness in the rolling hills of north Georgia.
We found two hundred and fifty acres of woodlands, a tranquil lake and an
Indian mound, hiking trails through pines and hardwoods, and a complex of
barns, pastures, and stables.
In this sacred place, where native Cherokee once lived close to the land,
spiritual tradition is strong. An ancient Cherokee burial mound looms
within view of the center, commanding respect for the ways native Americans
celebrated their ancestors and the seasons of life. Abundant quartz
underfoot reminded us how they first used the earth’s natural elements in
healing rituals long ago.
