Lake Sidney Lanier
Seventy-six recreational areas have been developed around the lake under the direction of the Corps of Engineers. These include 49 parks operated directly by the Corps, 10 marinas, and Lake Lanier Islands. The remaining areas are leased to county and city governments such as the Boy Scouts. Lake Lanier is one of the most visited federally operated lakes in the Nation.

Hartwell Lake
Hartwell Lake is one of the Southeast's largest and most popular public recreation lakes. It was built by the Corps of Engineers between 1955 and 1963 as part of a flood control and hydropower project. Hartwell Lake is one of the top 3 most visited Corps lakes in the nation, serving about 10 million visitors annually.
