Leonard E. Foote Hike Inn
at Amicalola Park
Guests arrive on foot to this rustic 20 room inn. An easy-to-moderate hike of 5 miles takes visitors past beautiful vistas and
small creeks near Amicalola Falls State Park. Visitors socialize during family-style meals and in the east-facing Sunrise Room.
Operated by Appalachian Education and Recreation Services (affiliated with the Georgia
Appalachian Trail Club) in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Named
after Leonard E. Foote (1918 - 1989), a photographer, conservationist and model for the series
"Mark Trail".
Environmentally-conscious construction required little grading and minimal clearing of trees. Optional
programs emphasize environmental education.
